Nothing is certain yet
Despite careful planning, the cruise line has already had to cancel flights; cruises from the Dominican Republic aboard Norwegian Joy and from Jamaica aboard Norwegian Gem have been cancelled. This happened because the cruise line was planning cruises on the Norwegian Bliss in Alaska, but did not have enough crew members ready to sail on all three ships. This is a problem that many cruise lines are currently facing; even if the ships can sail, that doesn’t mean they will. Problems in recruiting crew members from abroad are widespread.
It’s worth a read: Overview of the cruise ship Norwegian Gem and activities to do This is due to exit quarantines in the crew members’ home countries, the fact that crew members have not yet been vaccinated due to the slow distribution of vaccines (and the time it takes for them to take effect), particularly in Southeast Asia, and the enormous amount of paperwork involved in transporting a crew halfway around the world. It must be said, however, that the Miami-based cruise line does this much more slowly than other cruise lines. While other ships leave as early as this month, most in July, Norwegian won’t leave until August. The ship that had the honor of being launched from the Port of Miami is the Norwegian Gem.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Norwegian cruises are Cancelled?
Norwegian Cruise Line is the largest cruise line based in the US and one of the biggest in the world. In recent years, the company has experienced a slow decline in passenger numbers and revenue, given the rise of competitors and stiff competition from low-cost destinations. This has led to a significant fall in cruise revenue in the last few years.
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has announced a fairly significant number of cancellations for 2019, including some of its most popular and most expensive cruises. This was a major shock for the cruise company’s passengers, many of whom had booked these same cruises before the company’s financial woes were announced last fall.
Are Norwegian cruises sailing again?
Last month, Norwegian Cruise Line announced that it will be re-establishing its scheduled sailings out of Miami and Tampa in the United States, launching in spring 2019. The announcement came just weeks after Norwegian announced it will resume its long-haul cruises out of Galveston, Texas, and its route to the Mexican Riviera. In the UK, Norwegian has been phasing out its ships after a tumultuous period of cancellations and delays in recent years.
Norwegian is one of the most popular cruise lines in the world. The company has been operating since 1988 and has more than 100 ships in its fleet. In the last decade, the cruise industry has experienced a steady decline in passenger numbers. This is mainly due to the economic downturn and the rising cost of travel. However, Norwegian is one of the few cruise lines that has been maintaining the same levels of passenger numbers. Last year, Norwegian reported a 4% increase in passenger numbers, with an average one-way cruise ticket costing $2,699.
Are cruise ships sailing again?
The economic downturn has been tough on the cruise industry, with many operators looking to cut costs and turn a profit in tough economic times. This means some will have to cease operations temporarily before restarting with a new itinerary, and some will have to operate at reduced capacity. Some, like Carnival Cruise Lines, will be able to continue their business as usual, while others, such as Regent Seven Seas Cruises, have not announced whether or not they will continue.
Yes, it is true. According to an April 2012 article from “Cruise Business” magazine, many cruise ships are sailing again. The beauty of a cruise is that it can be taken at any time, so long as you are near the water or cruise ship. Now you can take it in Alaska, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, or the Mediterranean. And many more new cruise ship routes have been announced or are being considered.
